MISS COLORADO USA® & MISS COLORADO TEEN USA®

On the evening of October 12, 2008, in the city of Loveland, Colorado, the audience at the Roberta Price Auditorium at Thompson Valley High School, watched as Taylor Schettler’s dreams came true as she was crowned the new Miss Colorado Teen USA. Taylor, a resident of Castle Rock, is a 16-year-old sophomore at Douglas County High School. She is an honor roll student, a member of F.B.L.A (Future Business Leaders of America), and a member of the high school debate team.

Taylor supports many charities with her time and talents. Some of her favorite charities include the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, The Children’s Hospital, the D.A.R.E program, The Bully Proof Program, which she created and implemented, Castle Rock Fire Department, St. Francis of Assisi Church, Susan G. Komen Foundation, Colorado Aids Project, Fallen Soldiers Angels Relief Fund, The Ronald McDonald House, Champa House, and many more.

However, the project that is closest to her heart is one that she created herself. It is called Courage Through Confidence. The purpose of the program is to empower girls through self confidence. Through the program, Taylor intends to mentor young teenaged girls throughout Colorado, empowering them through her ten step confidence building program.

In Taylor’s free time she enjoys cuddling with her golden retriever, Abbie. She also enjoys baking her famous chocolate chip cookies, shopping, running and hanging out with her family and friends.

This was Taylor’s first year competing in the Miss Teen USA system. She believes that her success is due to her determination, devotion and having a dream. She believes that with these three “D’s” you can achieve anything!

After graduating from high school Taylor plans to attend college to achieve degrees in both political science and broadcast journalism. Her dream is to wake up every morning in her New York City apartment and going to work for NBC as tomorrow’s host of The Today Show.

None of Taylor’s success would have been possible without all of the loving support of her family and friends. She believes that you do not just crown a queen, you crown a team. Speaking of the team, Taylor is the oldest child of Tim and Janice Schettler. She also has two younger brothers, Christian and Hunter.

With a strong passion for making a difference, Taylor is devoted to using her title as Miss Colorado Teen USA to continue to promote self confidence in youth. Taylor is available for speaking engagements, interviews, emceeing events, autograph signing or other event.

“Success means having the courage, the determination and the will to become the person you believe you were meant to be.” George Sheeham.
